I have sat down in my chair and tried to write this blog post in at least 3 different situations each time having found it a challenge as to where I wanted to begin. Do I explain my long road in academia leading up to this point, the people I want to thank for supporting me to this point in my life, or do I begin with my overwhelming feeling of gratitude? With these swirling thoughts consuming my mind, I sit in my chair today and just want to say it . . .
☆ I WAS MATCHED INTO MY FIRST CHOICE DIETETIC INTERNSHIP & I AM A DIETETIC INTERN ☆
I debated about sharing this with all of you but it sums up my true feelings from an hour before match results were posted online. Here is a short excerpt from my journal.
November 4, 2018
". . . today is the day I have been anxiously anticipating for the past months...match day. I can't believe how fast this semester is flying by like I feel as if it was just my birthday. Before 7 p.m. when I log onto D&D digital accepting my future whatever it may be: match/no match, I want to take a quick second to express my gratitude for my life, the blessings that have come my way, and the opportunities I have been given/have been creating with the Lord for myself. I am proud of myself and my long-roaded journey to reaching this point in my academic career of applying into the dietetic internship. It is a privilege to be in university pursuing my dreams and I try not to take that for granted. No matter what the outcome of tonight is, I know for a fact in my heart that it was all a part of a larger plan for me - one that I don't see but that I trust. I also know that the universe has my back and what is meant to happen, will happen for greater reasons than I can comprehend. I know my grandparents will be sitting there by my side as guardian angels waiting to see the results of match day with my parents and I. My mind and heart rests easy in this trust and faith . . ."
It is so insane to think that after all the long nights of revising my application, securing preceptors, stressing over my personal statement, and a million other things, I am matched. I travel to a 3 day orientation in January and come home to dive right into my rotations for 8 months. I can feel that it is going to be a whirlwind but a really insightful and exciting one. Wish me luck! If you are also a dietetics student applying into the internship and have any questions about the process, feel free to contact me as I would be happy to help you in any way I can.
I am one step closer to becoming a registered dietitian, one step closer to living my dream. God is so good and the support I have received from my family and friends has been unreal. Thank you and cheers to a bright future ahead!
