Basic Whole Wheat Waffles
This morning, I first opened my eyes at 10:30am. After seeing how rainy the sky was and being too cozy in my bed, I decided to sleep until 12:30pm. Lazy mornings rolling into lazy afternoons call for a nice homemade brunch. I love waking up and making a gourmet brunch spread with my pjs still on and dancing around my kitchen to music even if it's just for myself. Let me know if you can relate!
This recipe makes about 1 2/3 cups of waffle batter. I cannot say how many waffle you will be able to make out of this since everyone has a different waffle maker. However, I can tell you that I made 5 single squared waffles from this batter.
1 cup white whole grain flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup non-dairy milk
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg replacer
Spray your waffle maker with non-stick spray and heat it up.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate smaller bowl, whisk together the non-dairy milk, oil, and egg replacer.
Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry bowl and stir until just combined.
Let the batter sit for about 3-5 minutes and then pour into your waffle maker. Cook the waffles according to the instructions for your waffle maker.
I served my waffles with cut up orange and banana slices, sprinkled with cinnamon, and honey on the side for dipping.
