Roasted Bean Snacks Top 8 Free

As you know, I am anaphylactic to peanuts and treenuts which makes finding healthier protein powered snacks a bit of a challenge. Nothing is worse than when I find a great product that don't have my allergens in the ingredients making me so excited to try it only to find the may contain statements at the bottom read this product has been produced in a facility with equipment that process peanuts, tree nuts, etc. Needless to say, when I discovered that any beans can be roasted into crunchy flavorful snacks, I was pretty stoked! Now, some of you may be thinking Beans? Those things can't possibly be made into yummy sweet or savory snacks but don't knock it 'till you try it! The beans actually take on the flavor of what ever you season them to be. This is a must try recipe.

This snack is incredibly simple and has a multitude of creative flavor combinations. The basic recipe is the one I have listed below, however, make sure to check out my flavor combination ideas towards the end of the post. These roasted beans make a great snack for on-the-go occasions, additions to trail mix, beach days, movie nights, or sprinkled over salads. The list is honestly endless!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of beans of choice

  • sea salt to taste

  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil

Directions:

  1. Rinse your choice of beans thoroughly and lay them out onto paper towel. Pat the beans dry making sure there is no water left on them. This is what helps make the beans nice and crunchy!

  2. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and pour the beans onto the pan.

  3. Sprinkle with sea salt to taste and drizzle with olive oil.

  4. Roast in the oven at 400°F for 30-35 minutes. Keep in mind that everyone's oven is slightly different so be sure to check the beans every 10 minutes as well as shake the pan to avoid burning them.

  5. Remove from the oven and let cool on the pan. At this point, you can enjoy your bean snacks warm or store them in a container for later. I store mine in a mason jar and find they are best up to 5 days.
